after taking the friday off work because the sun was shinning and the wind was up a bit dissappointing to say the least to find a gusty unpleasant easterly rocketing up the estuary.Nick and myself went out on our 7.mtr projected wipi's,that about 9 flat. not really fun but thank god for the 145 mad eel boards, eventualy throwing in the towel after about one hour when the wind picked up even more.aha maybe this is where my 20 mtr lines might be usefull, well i put them on and yes it helped with the gusts until the wind picked up even more.time to bail out, i got to shore and the kite was just pulling me along the beach, thankfully chris and nick came running to my help and together we eventually got the kite safely down and packed away. the highlite of the day was the fish and chips back up at Macinllyth,.or was it the beers in the friendship at borth that evening.
saturday morning and still easterly,we took a look at the estuary but decided 36 mph in the lulls was just toooooo silly so we headed north and ended up at lligwy bay on angelesey . we first went out on our 11mtr wipis and when the wind picked up slightly i was able to try out my new 8.4 airblast, another great kite in my quiver.
both Nick and myself have got to agree that easterlys in the estuary are invariably not too pleasant; the gusts i suppose are thermals sweeping down from the hills, so infuture i think that we will be tempted to drive the extra 50 miles each way and go to lligwy.
by the time we got back to brum on saturday evening we had covered 450 miles, now there's dedication to kitesurfing or what! not worth taking the friday off work but the saturday made up for it.
